Another staple vegetable for the summer is corn on the cob. However, it can be one of the most time consuming vegetables and hardest to keep up. Many people see this as a staple to a vegetable garden, but you need to make sure you have adequate room before you think about planting this crop. If you are going to grow this, you need to make sure that you have full sun with deep, well drained soil. Corn has to be kept moist through the entire process, but not waterlogged. It is wise to stagger plant the corn in order to allow the crops to have different maturities. You will know the corn is ready to be harvested when the silk turns brown and crisp.
A great recipe that can be created using fresh cob corn is very simple but still delicious, and one of my favorites. You can find the recipe for grilled corn on the cob here.
