Okra

Now to talk about my most favorite vegetable of all time!! Okra is one of the vegetables that loves heat. In order to thrive, it must have 55-65 frost free days. It also needs temperatures to be at least 85 degrees consistently for full growth of the plant. The plant at maturation will be from 4 to 7 feet tall, yielding seed pods that are anywhere from  3 to 5 inches long.

In order to have enough okra to feed your family, you should look at having at least 6 plants per family member. The soil should be loose and well drained in order for the okra to adequately grow. The okra should also be evenly moist until they are well established individually.  Pods should start being picked at 2-4 inches long.

One of the simplest yet best ways to cook okra is to fry it. You can use any recipe for this or follow this simple one here
